I have been working on the Kotsoglo/Koutsouros Family tree for some years and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Wheee! I have noticed reference to dowry in my husband's maternal grandmother's information. How do I get a copy of the document?

I just sent in my registration but I forgot to mention that my mom's maiden name was Comninos and her mother was Maria Kailis, and her mother was Krystalla Condouzoglou. I think I just saw her picture on the website. Very cool! N

Your initiative has immensely enriched Castellorizon history and identity, connecting us to virtually all continents. The depth and breadth of the website is quite profound which will be viewed as the reference point for ongoing research. Given the meagre genealogical information available to us, you have built a platform in which the voids can be hopefully filled. Last but not least you have generated a real thirst to enquire and seek knowledge of our illustrious past and future. |

My grandfather was George Sofoulis (a Baker)was born in Samos. There he married Stamatia Petraka & had 5 sons & a daughter. All born in Kastellorizo.
My father Nicholas followed his fathewr's trade & was a baker also. He left Kassie & went to Egypt . From there he migrated to Perth , West Australia. There he married Fanny Kailis a decendant of the Kailis family from Castellorizo. I was son No. 3 ,now 86 years old living ina Perth suburb called Merriwa. Was a geologist. |

I am trying to search roots in Greece and have no idea where to look. My mother is the only one left of her sibling all of Greek blood born in Oroville, California in the USA. Her name shown before marriage Joy Aleck and her siblings. John Aleck, Nick Aleck(my mothers twin born in 1925) and Bess Aleck. Her parents from Greece are Gus Aleck and Angelica Stefanis(Name before marriage). I do know that many names were changed coming into the country. Born were born about 1900 give or take about 6 years. Their marriage was prearranged as many were. Her sister was to marry Gus Aleck but could not come to USA due a virus she had at the time. So Angelica was chosen to come here to marry. So Angelica Stefanis had a sister(name unknown) and a brother ( his possible name Vasillias Stefanis and I was told he was a priest, probably Greek Orthodox). Thank you any help is appreciated you can email me at firewaterearthwind@yahoo.com

Love your sight. I went to Castellorizo a few years ago and it truly is fantastic to know I have Cassie blood.
My Cassie family surnames are Stambolis and Mastropanyoti. My grandfather was Peter Stambolis. All of his sisters eventually migrated to Austrailia and married Greek men. My father, Michael Stambolis, was fortunate enough to have met his first cousins there in Austrailia. It truly was the highlight of his life to have met them all. I also traveled to Australia and met many of my father's cousins and their children, and I will always cherish my memories of that journey. I even went to the club in Sydney. Your sight has reminded me of the undying Cassie spirit, a spirit that is more than the sum of its parts. We truly are everywhere! The wonderful work you have assembled here is a testament to your dedication and our inspiring rich, shared, cultural hertitage. Bravo. |

Allan - you are a gem - the site gets better all the time, and the homepage is extremely user friendly to new users. I keep showing it to people just to watch their amazement - Kazzies usually say they are astounded at how much of their own family history is on the site. Keep it up! Connie. |
